Kilimanjaro Hiking Machame Route

The Machame Route on Mount Kilimanjaro is our second favorite path, providing a breathtaking experience surpassed only by the Lemosho Route. This route is well-known for its stunning views and different landscapes, so it’s no wonder that over 20,000 climbers visit each year. However, its popularity can attract crowds, particularly during peak season.

One of the Machame Route’s distinguishing traits is its superb acclimatization profile, which follows the climb high, sleep low method. Approaching from the south, it has a high success rate, especially for those who choose the seven-day route. The six-day route, while enticing, is not suggested for first-time hikers because to the limited acclimatization period. There are no huts on the Machame Route, so camping is the only option.
